Ayuda Celebrates 9 Years as an Out of Home Industry Supplier

Ayuda Media Systems (“Ayuda”) is celebrating its ninth birthday today with fun and games at its R&D headquarters in Old Montreal. From humble beginnings in an empty Old Montreal loft in August 2003 and only one client on its roster, Ayuda has grown into a power player in the Out of Home industry, supplying software and services to some of the industry’s biggest names, including CBS, Lamar, EYE Corp, GSTV and Van Wagner. In 2003, Andreas Soupliotis, CEO & Founder of Ayuda, recruited Pierre-Yves Troel, currently Chief Software Architect, and Joe Cotugno, currently Vice-President Client Services to start an innovative, Silicon Valley style software company serving the Out of Home industry. With the backing of Francois de Gaspe Beaubien, currently Ayuda’s Executive Chairman, Ayuda began operations with only four employees in a chic Old Montreal loft.
“I remember Pierre-Yves and I playing soccer in the office back in 2003. With only two desks in the corners, we had plenty of room to play in the 1,000 square-foot loft area” recalls Cotugno of those early days. As the years progressed, that original loft went from spacious to cramped as the Ayuda team grew from 4 employees in the lone Montreal office, to 22 employees spread out over three offices in London, England, Sydney, Australia, and a new, larger office right on the waterfront in Old Montreal. Despite the worldwide growth, Ayuda still maintains a unique corporate culture centered on innovation, growth, and most importantly fun!
“When we started Ayuda, we wanted to incorporate the best of our West Coast experiences – such as the perks, benefits, and sense of team – and integrate them into our East Coast startup,” explains Cotugno. “So we offer employees free drinks, a fully-stocked snack bar, and unlimited world-class espresso. Additionally, employees have access to a gaming lounge with a foosball table, a bubble-hockey table, and dozens of Xbox games.” Quarterly team-building activities such as trips to the amusement park, ice-skating in the Old Port of Montreal, or Laser-Tag matches, are also the norm at Ayuda. With 9 years serving the industry under its belt, and multiple major recent announcements, Ayuda now considers itself an Out-of-Home industry veteran. And with major new announcements coming in the next several months, Ayuda’s 10th year is looking to be its best year yet.
Happy Birthday, Ayuda!
